The aim of the doctoral study is to prepare professionals with deep knowledge in the field of organic chemistry and related subjects from the field of biochemistry and mathematical modelling. The study is focused on acquiring comprehensive theoretical knowledge in the field of organic, instrumental and physical chemistry applied on organic natural substances. Furthermore, it develops theoretical computation chemistry for studies of biomolecular interaction and stereochemistry of both synthetic and natural bioactive compounds. An integral part of the study is independent creative work as well as mentoring students of Master and Bachelor degree programmes.

Graduates are prepared for independent scientific work and are experienced in managing small research groups. Consequently, they can become members of research teams, hold leading positions in production or control sector or in government institutions, may become teachers at secondary schools, colleges or universities.
