Applied Reaction Kinetics
The subject is focused on the analysis of behaviour of chemically reacting systems and design of chemical reactors. The students are introduced to basic concepts, mass and energy balances of reacting systems in steady and dynamic states. Further the students are acquainted with the analysis of heterogeneous reactions both catalytic and non catalytic together with chemical reactor models used in heterogeneous reaction applications. The important part of subject is the design of chemical reactor based on laboratory kinetic data

Characterization of Particles and Particle Systems
This course provides a general overview of the characterization methods for particle and particle systems. In the first the parameters describing size, shape and arrangement of small particles are defined, and the statistics of small particles is explained in great detail, including quantiles, mean values, moments and moment ratios. In the second part the different particle characterization techniques are considered, from sedimentation techniques to laser diffraction, image analysis, X-ray diffraction adsorption methods and less common techniques. The last part of this subject concerns disperse systems. The course is appropriate for students of all subjects and can be recommended to all those whose work requires the charactzerization of particle systems and microstructures

Mechanics of Materials
This course provides a self-contained and consistent overview of the mechanical and thermomechanical properties of materials, based on the theory of rational mechanics and thermomechanics. The presentation of the topics is based on the exact theory of continua and requires from the student the ability to follow tensor formalism. Apart from standard topics this course contains recent developments in the field of materials mechanics, and tries to correct some of the errors and misconceptions in the common textbook literature. The course is appropriate for students of all subjects

Calculations in Chemical Engineering
The subject is focused on the development of the mathematical models of important physical and chemical processes occurring in materials. The models are developed using the approach based on experimental design in combination with regression analysis. Emphasis is put on detailed statistical analysis of experimental data and the developed models. The models are used for the optimization of the composition of materials with target properties. By applying numerical methods, physic-chemical processes are solved that are described by ordinary and partial differential equations
