Chemistry and Technology

The Bachelor study programme is designed primarily for applicants from abroad. All courses are conducted in English. The study programme is accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and is in accordance with the requirements of the Bologna Process – European Higher Education Area. Note that students pay a tuition fee for participating in this programme.

The study programme Chemistry and Technology at Faculty of Chemical Technology has three specializations. Students choose a specialization during their first year of study.

If you are interested in Catalysis and Manufacturing of (In)organic Compounds, the specialization Chemical Technology is good way to go.

If you are interested in Materials, the specialization Chemistry and Technology of Materials is good way to go.

If you are interested in Inorganic/Medicinal/Organic Chemistry, the specialization Chemistry is good way to go.

Graduates

The main aims of the study programme are to prepare graduates—all of whom acquire excellent theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and experience in their field of study—for continuing their studies at the Master level and/or to prepare them for professional positions.

Chemistry and Technology (Faculty of Chemical Technology)

Chemistry and Technology (Faculty of Chemical Technology)

Bachelor Programme, Faculty of Chemical Technology

At the Faculty of Chemical Technology, students may focus their professional profiles towards specialized fields: the production and properties of metals, glass, or ceramic materials; plastics and rubber; biocompatible materials; and nano- or submicron-scale structured materials. Students can also focus on a more theoretical programme exceeding the scope of the foundational programme. During the course of the programme, students choose one of three specializations offered.

Careers

The main aim of this programme is to prepare graduates for Master studies in related branches at UCT Prague or at universities abroad (the latter option is facilitated by the opportunity to obtain a EuroBachelor degree upon graduation). Graduates are prepared for qualified positions in specialized workplaces such as production plants in the metallurgical, glass-making, ceramics, polymers, automotive, and other industries. Graduates also find qualified jobs in research and development institutions and laboratories.

You can choose from one of three specializations offered by this faculty.

Specialisation - Chemical Technology

The Chemical Technology programme focuses on deepening knowledge in chemical technology (inorganic and organic) or in pharmaceutical technology and synthesis. In addition to the common foundation programme, students can focus on the study of new types of energy sources, catalysis, raw materials treatment, the production processes for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and other specialized interests.

Specialisation - Chemistry

The main aim of this specialization is to prepare students for their Master degree studies. The specialization Chemistry focuses on the knowledge of the physico-chemical principles of chemical and biochemical processes and on the understanding of the fundamentals of inorganic and organic synthesis.

Specialisation - Chemistry and Technology of Materials

This specialization focuses on the study of relations between the chemical structure and physical properties of materials. Students deepen their knowledge of the properties, application, and processing aspects of glass and ceramics, metals and alloys, plastics and rubber, materials for electronics, or composite structures. Students can also learn about materials corrosion and prevention, the application of hybrid and biomaterials, and the surface functionalization of materials.
