Scholarships Provided by UCT Prague

 

University Scholarships

University of Chemistry and Technology offers its students studying in study programmes taught in the English language an Excellent study results scholarship and Exceptional scholarships for students in difficult financial situations.

Conditions

The scholarship shall be granted to the student provided the following requirements are met:

  • The student has complied with all study obligations set out in the study plan in the semester for which they submitted the application
  • The student has obtained a minimum of 25 credits by the end of the examination period of the given semester
  • The student's total study average is in the range of 1.00–1.80

Steps:

  1. Fill in and sign the Application form
  2. Ask two teachers to write a Letter of Recommendation for you
  3. Get the Transcript of Records 
  4. Scan the documents, upload them to the online form and submit your application 

You can download the Transcript of Records from your SIS (Study Information System) on the Tab Summary of Examinations Results, by clicking the tiny button on the right side "Show PDF". Or you can visit your faculty's Study Officer who can issue the Transcript of Records for you.

The awarding of the scholarship is not automatic, all applications are assessed by the Vice-Rector for International Relations.

Students awarded the scholarship must submit the original scholarship application to the Department of International Relations upon receipt of the Scholarship Award Decision.

Miroslav Vlček Scholarship

The Miroslav Vlček Extraordinary Scholarship is a form of honoring the memory of professor Miroslav Vlček – the spiritual father of the idea and the coordinator of the Study in Prague consortium (2015–2019), which brought together seven Prague public universities and attracted hundreds of foreign students to study in Prague.

The Miroslav Vlček Extraordinary Scholarship aims to contribute to the higher internationalization of public universities in Prague by increasing the number of foreign students studying in foreign language study programs.

Conditions

  • Students who are not citizens of the Czech Republic may apply for a scholarship
  • The student must study an English-taught bachelor's, master's, or doctoral full-time degree program
  • Disciplinary proceedings may not be conducted against the student
  • In the year the scholarship is awarded, the student will not exceed 36 years of age
  • The application for the scholarship is submitted by the student on the prescribed application form 

Application Form

The application form contains the applicant's identification data, a description of his/her contribution to the internationalization of the study environment of UCT Prague, and the signature of at least one lecturer expressing his/her support of the application for the scholarship. The application can be submitted directly by the student or by his/her lecturer to the Department of International Relations.

Incomplete or incorrectly filled forms will be excluded from the selection process.

Selection Process 

When selecting a scholarship awardee, his/her extraordinary contribution to the strengthening of the international reputation of UCT Prague and studies in Prague is evaluated. E.g. exceptional extracurricular activities in the form of project involvement, research, spreading the good name of UCT Prague and Czech higher education in the world, etc.

Consideration is also given to the quality of the application process and whether the student has already received a scholarship in previous years.

The awarding of the scholarship is decided by the Vice-Rector for International Relations. The Vice-Rector can also decide not to award the scholarship.

Announcement of the Result: by 30. 11. 2024

Nominated students will be informed about the results of the selection process by authorized staff.

The scholarship-winning student will be invited to the Scholarship Award Ceremony, which will take place on December 4, 2024, in the Residence of the Mayor of the city of Prague.

  • Encourage Prospective Students: Share personal experiences with prospective students from other countries, encouraging them to consider the university for their education.

The extraordinary scholarship of Miroslav Vlček is awarded in accordance with § 91 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on universities, as amended, and the Scholarship Rules of VŠCHT Prague.

 

 

Other Financial Aid Options 

 

Visegrad Scholarships – International Visegrad Fund

Master's ands post-Master's scholarships for study/research projects during the period of one to four semesters at public universities in the Czech Republic and other European countries. 

Eligible Applicants: 
Citizens of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, or Ukraine

Procedure:
Visegrad Fund applicants must fill out an online application and submit documents required for a selected study program. Subsequently, applicants have to contact UCT Prague admission officer to arrange an evaluation of the submitted documents. A Pre-acceptance Letter is issued if an applicant meets the admission requirements

 

Scholarships of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic

Scholarship for university students or graduates and PhD candidates (exceptionally for academic staff members) who wish to undertake study or research visits to one of the Czech public institutions of higher education. 

Eligible Applicants: 
Citizens of Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany (DAAD and Bavaria), Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine

 

Deadline:
The closing dates for applications are set by the appropriate authorities in the respective countries

 

 

Government Scholarships – Developing countries – Scholarships Awards within the Foreign Development Assistance Programme

The scholarship is designed to cover the standard length of study in follow-up Master's study programmes plus a one-year-long preparatory Czech language course (the medium of instruction is the Czech language). Or follow-up Master's study programmes or Doctoral study programmes (instruction in the English language).

Eligible Applicants: 
Citizens of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Zambia

AKTION Czech Republic – Austria

Scholarships for preparation of Master's final theses or dissertations for students; research stays for doctoral students or academics; scholarships for the preparation of habilitation for post-doctoral students, and scholarships for participation in summer language schools.

Citizens of the Czech Republic, Austria

Fulbright U.S. Student Program – Fulbright Program

Scholarship for students that have a conferred bachelor's degree or equivalent before the start of the grand period. Preferences will be given to applicants whose higher education was undertaken primarily at educational institutions in the United States.

Eligible Applicants: 
Applicants must be citizens or nationals of the United States of America at the time of the application deadline (permanent residents are not eligible)

Barrande Fellowship Programme

The programme is designed to provide Czech PhD students with opportunities to study in France and French PhD students with opportunities to study in the Czech Republic. The programme funds "cotutelles" (double-degree PhD) and short-term research stays.
