Grading System and ECTS Credits
UCT Prague uses the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) to ensure transparent, comparable, and transferable academic results across European higher education institutions. This system allows students to easily continue their studies abroad and have their academic achievements recognized.
ECTS and Credit Allocation
ECTS credits reflect the workload required to achieve the learning outcomes of each course. One academic year of full-time study equals 60 ECTS credits (30 credits per semester). The average semester includes 14 weeks of instruction.
Credits are assigned based on the estimated time students need to complete all course-related activities:
- Lectures and seminars
- Laboratory or project work
- Self-study and preparation
- Exams and assessments
Each course is assigned a specific number of credits based on its workload.
Degree Programmes
Bachelor's and Master's study degrees are realized through hundreds of fields of study. Some of them can be combined with other study fields (even as an interfaculty study – a combined field from different faculties).
The List of degree programmes shows all disciplines offered by UCT Prague and demonstrates the way how to fulfill all conditions for study completion and getting the diploma within the ECTS semester workload (30 credits).
Student Mobility and Credit Transfer
>One of the main benefits of ECTS is the recognition of study periods abroad. Students who have completed courses at other institutions—especially within Erasmus+ or other mobility frameworks—can have their credits transferred and counted towards their degree at UCT Prague (and vice versa).
This makes studying abroad easier and reduces administrative barriers.

Diploma Supplement
UCT Prague automatically provides all graduates with a Diploma Supplement that follows the model developed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO/CEPES.
The purpose of the Diploma Supplement is to:
- Enhance transparency and international comparability of qualifications
- Facilitate academic and professional recognition of degrees abroad
- Provide a standardized, detailed description of the graduate’s educational background
The Diploma Supplement is published in two languages – Czech and English – and contains the status of successfully completed studies, the list of courses evaluated according to the ECTS, and the number of credits awarded for each course.
The Supplement also includes information about courses completed abroad, Bachelor or Master theses, defense of the theses, final state examinations, and the overall evaluation of study results.
The Diploma Supplement also provides a brief description of the Czech Higher Educational System.
