Financial Support for Students

Scholarships Provided by UCT Prague

 

University Scholarships

University of Chemistry and Technology offers its students studying in study programmes taught in the English language an Excellent study results scholarship and Exceptional scholarships for students in difficult financial situations.

The Application form must be supplemented by a Transcript of Records (issued by the Dean's office) and two Letters of Recommendation written by a UCT teacher or supervisor. 

The scholarship shall be granted to the student provided the following requirements are met:
The student has complied with all study obligations set out in the study plan in the semester for which they submitted the application and has obtained a minimum of 25 credits by the end of the
examination period of the given semester and their total study average is in the range of 1.00–1.80.

The awarding of the scholarship is not automatic, all applications are assessed by the Vice-Rector for External Relations and Communication.

Steps:

  1. Fill in and sign the Application form (see the form below)
  2. Ask two teachers to write a Letter of Recommendation for you (see the form below)
  3. Download the Transcript of Records stating the average of your grades from the Study Information System (SIS) (*Tab Summary of Examinations Results, tiny button on the right side "Show PDF") | Or visit your Dean's office to get the Transcript of Records
  4. Fill in the ONLINE FORM and upload the original Application Form, 2x Letters of Recommendation, and Transcript of Records 

(There is no need to submit hard copies of the documents to the Department of International Relations if you duly filled in the online form.)

Miroslav Vlček Scholarship

The Miroslav Vlček Extraordinary Scholarship is a form of honoring the memory of professor Miroslav Vlček, the spiritual father of the Study in Prague project, which brought together seven Prague public universities and attracted hundreds of foreign students to study in Prague. The extraordinary scholarship of Miroslav Vlček aims to contribute to the higher internationalization of the university environment of public universities in Prague by increasing the number of foreign students studying in foreign language study programs.

Conditions for awarding the scholarship

The extraordinary scholarship of Miroslav Vlček is awarded in accordance with § 91 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on universities, as amended, and the Scholarship Rules of VŠCHT Prague.

  1. Students who are not citizens of the Czech Republic may apply for a scholarship.
  2. The student must study an English-taught bachelor's, master's, or doctoral full-time degree program.
  3. Disciplinary proceedings may not be conducted against the student.
  4. The student will not exceed 36 years of age in the year the scholarship is awarded.
  5. The application for the grant of the scholarship is submitted by the student on the prescribed form (download the form here).

The form contains the applicant's identification data and a description of his contribution to the support of the internationalization of the study environment of VŠCHT Prague, and the signature of at least one teacher of the given student expressing his consent to the application for a scholarship. The application can be submitted either directly by the student or by his teacher.
Incomplete or incorrectly filled forms will be excluded from the selection process.

When selecting a scholarship recipient, his/her extraordinary contribution to the international reputation of UCT Prague and studies in Prague is evaluated (e.g. exceptional extracurricular activities in the form of project involvement; research; spreading the good name of VŠCHT Prague and Czech higher education in the world).
The vice-rector for foreign relations decides on the awarding of the scholarship. She can also decide not to award it.

Announcement of results: by 30 November 
The award-winning student will be invited to a ceremony to receive the Decision on Awarding the Scholarship. 

 

 

Other Financial Aid Options 

 

Visegrad Scholarships – International Visegrad Fund

Master's ands post-Master's scholarships for study/research projects durign the period of one to four semestres at public universities in the Czech Republic and other European countries. 

Eligible Applicants: 
Citizens of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, or Ukraine

Procedure:
Visegrad Fund applicants must fill out an online application and submit documents required for a selected study program. Subsequently, applicants have to contact UCT Prague admission officer to arrange an evaluation of the submitted documents. A Pre-acceptance Letter is issued if an applicant meets the admission requirements

 

Scholarships of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic

Scholarship for university students or graduates and PhD candidates (exceptionally for academic staff members) who wish to undertake study or research visits to one of the Czech public institutions of higher education. 

Eligible Applicants: 
Citizens of Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany (DAAD and Bavaria), Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine

 

Deadline:
The closing dates for applications are set by the appropriate authorities in the respective countries

 

 

Government Scholarships – Developing countries – Scholarships Awards within the Foreign Development Assistance Programme

The scholarship is designed to cover the standard length of study in follow-up Master's study programmes plus a one-year-long preparatory Czech language course (the medium of instruction is the Czech language). Or follow-up Master's study programmes or Doctoral study programmes (instruction in the English language).

Eligible Applicants: 
Citizens of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Zambia

AKTION Czech Republic – Austria

Scholarships for preparation of Master's final theses or dissertations for students; research stays for doctoral students or academics; scholarships for the preparation of habilitation for post-doctoral students, and scholarships for participation in summer language schools. 

Eligible Applicants: 
Citizens of the Czech Republic, Austria

Fulbright U.S. Student Program – Fulbright Program

Scholarship for students that have a conferred bachelor's degree or equivalent before the start of the grand period. Preferences will be given to applicants whose higher education was undertaken primarily at educational institutions in the United States.

Eligible Applicants: 
Applicants must be citizens or nationals of the United States of America at the time of the application deadline (permanent residents are not eligible)

Barrande Fellowship Programme

The programme is designed to provide Czech PhD students with opportunities to study in France and French PhD students with opportunities to study in the Czech Republic. The programme funds "cotutelles" (double-degree PhD) and short-term research stays.
