Bachelor & Master
Application Period: December 1 – January 31
The portal opens on December 1 at 0:00 and closes on January 31 at 23:59 CET.
There is only 1 intake.
The academic year starts in September.
Age
Applicants applying to the Bachelor programme Chemistry and Technology must be 18 years old by the end of the winter semester of the 1st year of study (mid-February).
This requirement is in place because, during the summer semester of the first year, students attend laboratory classes in inorganic chemistry involving substances that minors are not legally permitted to handle.
Application Fee
The application fee for the academic year 2025/2026 is 3 000,- CZK. The application fee may be paid in Euros or in US dollars.
The application fee shall be paid by the deadline of the application period at the latest.
The application fee covers costs connected to the administration of the application, especially the costs connected to the delivery of visa documents to the applicants. As per the Statute of the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague from August 6, 2021, the application fee is non-refundable, it cannot be waived, reduced, or postponed.
After submitting the online application, payment information with a unique QR code will be shown in your application. Please follow the steps provided in the application system to complete the payment process.
Application Documents
When filling out the online application, the following documents are required.
Only PDF files with proper naming (Surname_name-of-the-attachment) will be accepted.
Accepted Qualifications – BSc. level
We accept International Baccalaureate (IB) diplomas, Cambridge International A Level certificates, as well as other types of high school graduation certificates and diplomas.
Recommended Subjects – BSc. level
We strongly recommend taking Mathematics and Chemistry — and if possible, also Biology and Physics — at the highest level available at your secondary school.
Required Documents
If your documents are issued in a language other than English, they must be translated into English or Czech. Please upload both the original and the certified translation.
Transcript of Records
The Transcript of Records is a list of all subjects you studied during the last four years of secondary school (or during your Bachelor's studies if you are applying for a Master's programme). It should include the number of hours dedicated to each subject.
If You Haven’t Graduated Yet
If you haven’t finished your current studies yet, please upload an official Confirmation of Studies issued by your school or university. The document must clearly state your expected graduation date. This will temporarily replace your diploma or graduation certificate.
UCT Prague requires students to have a good command of English in order to study successfully. You must provide us with proof of your English language skills.
Non-Native English Speakers
Non-native speakers are required to prove the language competence of B2+ according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Recognized Certificates are:
- Cambridge ESOL: minimum B2 First (FCE),
- Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language; minimum score B2 (CEFR)
- TOEFL iBT: minimum score 80,
- IELTS: minimum overall band score 6.0
- PTE Academics: minimum score 60,
- Duolingo English Test: minimum score 110
Other Acceptable Formats:
- Confirmation of English Language Knowledge confirmed by a language center or a language school. The Confirmation will only be accepted if it confirms the minimum language level B2 and above.
- Medium of Instruction Certificate – Students who studied their previous studies fully in the English language can provide official confirmation issued by their school.
Native English Speakers
Students whose mother tongue is English are exempt from this obligation.
The maximum length of the motivation letter is two A4 pages.
The motivation letter shall cover your motivation to study the chosen study programme at our university, the benefits that studying this program will bring you, and how you will utilize the gained knowledge in your career.
Don't forget to state your name, surname, phone number, and email address in the motivation letter.
Max 3 A4 pages.
The Medical Assessment Form provided by UCT must be used. The form shall be filled in and confirmed by your general practitioner (in your country). The second page of the document specifies areas of medical examination that your general practitioner shall confirm.
The form shall not be older than 2 months when uploaded to the online application.
Note that the original paper version of the Medical Assessment Form must be handed in no later than the day of Enrollment (in September).

Non-EU nationals: The passport shall not be older than 10 years, it must contain at least 2 free pages, and its validity must be at least 3 months longer than the validity of the long-term visa (which is usually issued with a validity of 1 year).
This means that your passport must be valid at least until December 31, 2027, however, we strongly advise making sure that your passport is valid at least until December 31, 2028, in case of Master's degree applicants; and at least until December 31, 2029, in case of Bachelor degree applicants – so you don't have to exchange your passport while studying.
If you have already undergone the process of Nostrification in the Czech Republic, upload the Nostrification Certificate.
If you haven't undergone the Nostrification process in the Czech Republic yet, you can undergo a simple process of Recognition of previous foreign education at UCT Prague as a part of the admission process.
In order to undergo the process of recognition at UCT Prague, indicate this in your online application by choosing the method of recognition: I have a diploma and DON'T have a Nostrification Certificate.

Entrance Exam and Selection Interview
Bachelor’s Degree Admission – Entrance Exam and Interview
Applicants to the Bachelor’s programme are required to take an online Entrance Exam in Mathematics and Chemistry, followed by an online Selection Interview.
Your fundamental knowledge of mathematics and chemistry will be assessed during both the exam and the interview.
- The Entrance Exam will take place on February 12, 2025. The exact time will be scheduled based on the applicant's time zone.
- The online interviews will be held between February 12 and February 14, 2025. Each applicant will receive their specific date and time after completing the Entrance Exam. This information will be provided by the Admission Committee.

Master’s Degree Admission – Selection Interview
Applicants for the Master’s programme will be invited to an online Selection Interview.
The list of subject areas relevant for each interview is available at the bottom of this page.
You will be notified about the date and time of your interview via email by a faculty representative. Please make sure to check your spam or bulk email folders as well.
Admission Results
From Application to Arrival: Key Dates & Deadlines
The timeline below outlines the key steps and deadlines from submitting your application to starting your studies at UCT Prague.
Please make sure to follow each step carefully to ensure a smooth admission and arrival process.
1) Apply to the Program (December 1 – January 31)
Application portal is open.
Submit your application, and pay the application fee.
2) Take the Entrance Exam and Interview (February 12 – February 28)
- Bachelor's online entrance exam in Mathematics and Chemistry, and selection interviews.
- Master's online selection interviews (see subject areas of the interviews here)
3) Receive Admission Results (March 11)
Applicants are notified about the admission results by March 11.
4) Confirm Your Place and Prepare for Visa (March)
- Confirm that you accept your place in the degree programme at UCT Prague by replying to the admission offer email.
- Pay Recognition Fee
- Inform the UCT Prague Admission Officer about the address where your visa documents should be delivered.
- Prepare all documents required for your visa appointment, based on the instructions provided by the Czech embassy.
- Schedule an appointment at the relevant Czech embassy
- Sign the Accommodation Pre-Agreement, which will be delivered to you by post.
5) Attend Visa Appointment (March – May)
Attend an appointment at a Czech embassy.
6) Prepare True Copies of Educational Documents (March – July)
- Arrange a true copy of the Diploma/Graduation certificate and the Transcript of Records with Apostille/Superlegalization and translation for the process of Recognition of the previous foreign education
- Send scans of the true copies to the UCT Prague Admission Officer
7) Send Paper Versions of Documents by Post (By July)
Send a paper version of the true copy of the Diploma/Graduation certificate and Transcript of Records with Apostille/Superlegalization and translation to UCT Prague by a delivery service
Alternatively:
- Bc. applicants: Send a true copy of the Nostrification Certificate issued by the Czech official authority to UCT Prague by a delivery service
- MSc. applicants: Send a true copy of the Recognition Certificate issued by another Czech higher education institution to UCT Prague by a delivery service
8) Visa Approval (July – August )
Wait for visa approval.
9) Enrollment & Start of the Academic Year (September)
Enrollment Day is usually held on the Monday of the second week of September.
Classes typically start on the Monday of the third week of September.
→ Recognition of Previous Education
Applicants who have been accepted to the studies must submit either a Recognition Certificate or undergo the process of Recognition of Previous Foreign Education.
NonEU citizens shall apply for a long-term visa or a long-term residence permit for the purpose of studying in the Czech Republic.
Admission to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes at UCT Prague is governed by the Act on Higher Education Institutions (Act No. 111/1998 Coll., as amended) and by the internal regulations of UCT Prague.
Admission is only possible through a proper admission procedure in which all admission requirements are duly verified. Please note that “direct admission” to any degree programme (i.e. without undergoing the admission procedure and receiving a formal Decision on Admission) is not possible. Be cautious of any third party claiming otherwise.
