Hello everyone! My name is Danya and I am a Master’s student at UCT Prague. I would like to share my experience with studying abroad over the past four years. I will also talk about my experience here at UCT Prague and the challenges that I faced during my Bachelor and Master studies.

What made you choose UCT Prague in the first place?

I applied to UCT Prague because this is a modern, chemistry-oriented university situated right in the centre of Europe. What was important to me was the possibility of choosing a program in English, with Chemical Technology being one of the options. I was satisfied with how my Bachelor studies went and chose UCT Prague to continue studying Organic Chemistry at the Master’s level. I am happy that I am doing something that I enjoy, and in addition to classes, I also have the ability to work on research projects. The overall environment at UCT Prague is very positive and supportive. Though the studies here are challenging, they’re absolutely manageable if one stays focused. All the aforementioned factors make UCT Prague a great choice.

What do you enjoy most about living in Prague?

Prague is one of the favourite cities that I’ve ever visited and definitely one of the best for living in. A major advantage is a very well-developed (and cheap, especially for students) public transit system. Taking public transit between the dormitories and campus only takes 35 minutes even though the dorms and campus are pretty far away from each other. Another thing I like about Prague is the wide variety of activities available. Whether you want to go for a walk, have a picnic with friends in the park, do sports, go shopping, or visit cafés, you can always find something to do. Not to mention that the city is extremely beautiful!

What could make life easier for international students at UCT Prague?

Being an international student comes with challenges, especially at the beginning. Experiencing a new environment, with tons of information and obligations, and finding new friends and connections, is something that everyone goes through. So having key information about courses, administrative processes, and everyday life in Prague in one place would reduce much of the initial stress. However, the support of the International Relations Office, Dean’s office, and student organizations such as the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) definitely makes life much smoother!

Overall, my experience at UCT Prague has been very positive, and studying abroad, though not easy, is absolutely worth it. It allows you to grow in ways you would never have expected. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had here, and I would definitely encourage other international students to consider UCT Prague as a place to study and develop.
