More information on the PhD admission proceedings:
Firstly, all application documents in the required format shall be scanned as a separate attachment, each of them properly named (in the format: Surname_name of the attachment).
Secondly, you shall upload the application documents into the ONLINE APPLICATION.
The deadline for applications for Bachelor and Master study programmes is the February 28.
R Applications received after the deadline or applications delivered in incorrect form or style will be disregarded.
Application fee for the academic year 2022/2023 is 3 000,- CZK.
When submitting the online application, you will receive payment information with a unique code.

When filling in the online application, the following documents shall be uploaded. Note that only PDF files with proper naming (Surname_name-of-the-attachment) will be accepted.
The required application documents include:
1. Diploma and Diploma Supplement / Graduation Certificate and Transcript of Records
Documents issued in another language than English must be translated into English or Czech language.
The Transcript of Records is a list of all subjects studied in the last 4 years at secondary school, including the number of hours for individual subjects. An example of a suitable Transcript is available here >.
If you have not finished your current studies yet, provide a Study Confirmation with a clearly indicated date of graduation issued by your University/Secondary school instead of the Diploma/Graduation Certificate.
2. Certificate of English language knowledge
UCT Prague requires students to have a good command of English in order to study successfully. You must provide us with proof of your English language skills.
Non-Native English Speaker
Non-native speakers are required to prove the language competence of B2+ according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Recognized Certificates are:
- Cambridge ESOL: minimum FCE,
- TOEFL iBT: minimum score 80,
- IELTS: minimum band score 5.5,
- Duolingo English Test: minimum score B2 (90)
Other Acceptable Formats:
> Confirmation of language knowledge confirmed by a language center or a language school. The confirmation will only be accepted if it confirms the minimum language level B2 and above.
Students who studied in the English language shall provide official confirmation.
Native English Speakers
Students whose mother tongue is English are excluded from this obligation.

4. Signed Curriculum Vitae
The Medical Assessment form shall be filled in and confirmed by a general practitioner. The form shall not be older than 2 months.
Due to the current circumstances (state of emergency linked to COVID-19), you can submit a declaration instead of the medical certificate, which can be submitted later. More information.
Note that the original Medical Assessment Form must be submitted no later than by the day of Enrollment (in September).
6. Copy of your passport (only the page with your picture and personal data)
7. List of publications and other outcomes of scientific work (relevant for PhD applicants only)
8. Certificate of Recognition of Previous Foreign Education
When filling in the online application, you will be asked to choose a method of recognition of your previous education:
- A Document Deemed Automatically Equivalent Without Any Further Administrative Procedure = Certificates and Diplomas issued in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Germany, and Slovenia
- A Document Proving the Awarding of a European Baccalaureate = you have received a European Baccalaureate diploma
- A Foreign Document Concerning a Foreign Education = the Certificate of Recognition of previous foreign Education can be issued by UCT Prague as a part of the admission process
- A document proving general recognition = you have already received an official Certificate of Nostrification (issued by Prague City Hall) or Certificate of Recognition of foreign education (issued by an educational institution in the Czech Republic), or you have already started working on it
Applicants to the Bachelor study programmes can either provide an official Nostrification Certificate issued by the Prague City Hall or undergo the process of the recognition of previous foreign education as a part of the admission process.
Applicants to the Master study programmes can either provide an official Recognition Certificate issued by another educational institution in the Czech Republic or undergo the process of the recognition of previous foreign education as a part of the admission process.
UCT Prague reserves the right to refuse an Application provided all the above-mentioned enclosures are not delivered and are not in the required form and style.
After Submission of the Online Application
- Jan 15 – Feb 28 – Admissions are open
- March – Arrange a notary-certified (true) copy of the Diploma and the Transcript of Records with Apostille/Superlegalization and translation
- April – Prepare documents required for a visa appointment
- Apr 10 – Apr 30 – Master's online admission interviews
- by Apr 30 – Provide a scan of a notary-certified (true) copy of the Diploma and Transcript of Records with Apostille/Superlegalization and translation
- May 11 – Applicants are notified about the admission results
- May – Arrange an appointment at the respective Czech embassy / Inform UCT Prague admission officer that you would like to be included in a governmental visa fast-track Režim Student
- June – Visa appointment at a Czech embassy
- by July 15 – Send a notary-certified (true) copy of the Diploma and Transcript of Records with Apostille/Superlegalization and translation to UCT Prague by a delivery service for the Recognition of the previous foreign education process
- August – Visa approval
- September – Start of the studies
All applicants must provide a notary-certified copy of the Diploma with Diploma supplement / Graduation certificate with Transcript of Records in order to be enrolled in the studies.
The Diploma with Diploma supplement / Graduation certificate with Transcript of Records must be authenticated (must have an Apostille or Superlegalization clause) and if issued in any other language, it must be translated to the English or Czech language.
Please note that you must provide notary-certified copies. Do not provide originals, we cannot return them back to you.
Notary-certified copy: What is it and why is it required?
According to the legislative of the Czech Republic and internal regulations of the university, UCT Prague must receive and archive a Diploma and Diploma supplement / Graduation certificate and Transcript of records of any student enrolled in the studies for several years.
Therefore if providing an original of the document, UCT Prague cannot return it back to you. Note that you may need the original diploma for other matters in your life.
What is a notary-certified copy?
A notary-certified copy is an exact copy of a document created and verified by a Notary Public.
A simple copy of a document (made by you on a regular photocopier) is not considered an official document and cannot be accepted.
What is Apostille or Superlegalization?
Apostille or Superlegalization is a process of verification that the signatures and stamps on a document are genuine. This process is a mandatory lawful requirement in case of certain countries, and the documents are incomplete without this verification.
Do you need to obtain an Apostille or Superlegalization clause on your documents?

- By April 30, applicants must provide:
A scan of a notary-certified copy of the Diploma with Diploma supplement / Graduation Certificate with Transcript of Records with an authentication (Apostille or Super-legalization) and translation to the English or Czech language.
What to do if you haven't graduated yet?
Applicants who are going to graduate in May/June/July shall provide a Study Confirmation with a clearly indicated date of graduation issued by their school.
Applicants without a Diploma / Graduation Certificate cannot be nominated for the governmental project for visa facilitation Režim Student. If you haven't graduated yet, you shall apply for a regular appointment at the respective embassy AS SOON AS POSSIBLE after receiving a Letter of Acceptance from UCT Prague.
Once you graduate, you must provide a scan of a notary-certified copy of the Diploma with Diploma supplement / Graduation Certificate with a Transcript of Records with an authentication (Apostille or Super-legalization) and translation to the English or Czech language as soon as possible.
NonEU Citizens – Visa Applying
NonEU citizens must apply for a long-term visa or a long-term residence card for the purpose of studies in a timely manner. Applicants from a certain countries can be nominated for a governmental project for visa facilitation called Režim Student.
Preparing the notary-certified Diploma and Transcript of Records with the authentication and translation into English/Czech in a timely manner is crucial for the timely submission of a visa application when applying through the governmental project Režim Student.
Režim Student – What it is and how it works
Režim Student is a governmental project designed to facilitate the visa procedure for selected students.
On the website, the Ministry of Education publishes terms of when universities can nominate their students for the project.
When nominating, the university must submit the following documents:
- Diploma with the Diploma Supplement (Transcript of Records)
- Certificate of Nostrification / Recognition Certificate / Confirmation of Accreditation of a study programme that the student graduated from issued by his/her school / IAU number of the university
When students are nominated, the Ministry then has 3-5 working days to process the nominations and based on certain criteria choose, which nominations are successful.
If the nomination is successful, then the Embassy assigns an appointment – the appointment is usually assigned within 1–4 weeks. If the application for the visa is complete and all right, the Ministry of Interior then has 60 days to approve the visa. Then an appointment for visa collection is scheduled.
It is advised to arrange an apostille/superlegaliazation as soon as possible, so you will have the documents ready when applying for the visa. Also, visit the website of the respective Czech embassy to learn their required documents to bring to a visa appointment.
Note that it is more than recommended to arrange a visa appointment at the respective embassy in May at the very latest. The academic year starts in September, and the visa approval takes 60–120 days!
Especially applicants from India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Bhútán, Chad, Cameroon, Maledives, and Nepal, should apply for the visa AS SOON AS POSSIBLE once they receive a Letter of Acceptance because of the competition at the embassies in Abuja (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana) and New Delhi (India) which is enormous, and the appointment slots are very limited!
We encourage all applicants to visit the website of the respective Czech embassy for their country and learn in advance what documents are required when applying for a visa.

Recognition of Previous Foreign Education as a part of the Admission Procedure
The Recognition of Previous Foreign Education is a process of verifying that the education level which you have completed abroad is equal to the education level required for studying at a university in the Czech Republic.
The Recognition of Foreign Education is an indispensable requirement for admission to the studies at UCT Prague.
If, when filling in the online application, you choose A Foreign Document Concerning a Foreign Education, UCT Prague will assess your Diploma with Diploma supplement / Graduation Certificate with a Transcript of records to evaluate if your education is equal to the Czech educational system.
Be advised that the process of recognition of previous foreign education conducted by UCT Prague is charged and the recognition fee is 800 CZK. The required documents must be delivered to UCT Prague by July 15 at the very latest.
Master and PhD degree applicants will have to sit for an online admission interview. Applicants will be notified in advance by a faculty representative by email, please check your bulk email folder/spam folder too.

The selection procedure of applications for Bachelor and Master degree programmes takes place in April; for PhD degree programmes during May. The application materials will be assessed to determine successful applicants.
Bachelor and Master degree applicants are notified about their acceptance / non-acceptance after May 11, PhD degree applicants by the end of June.
